 WiCanFi — Fast 1-Minute Chrome & Edge Setup Guide

Step 1: Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and navigate to:
        chrome://extensions   (Google Chrome)
        edge://extensions     (Microsoft Edge)

Step 2: Turn ON "Developer mode" (toggle switch in the top-right corner).

Step 3: Click "Load unpacked" (button in the top-left corner).

Step 4: Select the "WiCanFi-Extension" folder.

That's it! WiCanFi is installed and will automatically handle your campus Wi-Fi.

HOW TO UPDATE ANYTIME:

- Windows: Double-click Update-Windows.bat
- Mac:     Double-click Update-Mac.command

WINDOWS SECURITY NOTE (Why "Unknown Publisher" appears & Is it safe?)

Q: Why does Windows SmartScreen say "Windows protected your PC" or 
   "Unknown Publisher" when I run Update-Windows.bat?

A: WiCanFi is a verified open-source, non-profit campus tool:
   https://github.com/AabhasKatiyar/wicanfi

   Microsoft Windows Defender SmartScreen automatically displays this warning
   on ANY batch file (.bat) downloaded from the internet because .bat scripts
   cannot hold commercial EV corporate certificates (which cost $500/year).

   WiCanFi is 100% safe, contains zero spyware, ads, or background trackers.
   Because it is a standard batch script, you can right-click Update-Windows.bat
   and click "Edit" in Notepad to inspect every line of code yourself!

TWO EASY WAYS TO RUN WITHOUT WORRY:

  METHOD 1 (Takes 1 second):
  1. On the blue "Windows protected your PC" window, click "More info".
  2. Click "Run anyway". The updater will run safely and unblock future runs.

  METHOD 2 (Permanent zero-warning fix before unzipping):
  1. Right-click the downloaded "WiCanFi-Extension.zip" file.
  2. Click "Properties".
  3. At the bottom under Security, check the [x] "Unblock" box.
  4. Click "Apply" and "OK", then extract the folder.
     Windows will never show any warnings!
