Update Successful 🌐 Detecting Browser...

WiCanFi v1.0.8 is Ready & Up to Date!

The latest build with portal keepalive stability, complete CSP compliance, and dedicated check-update controls is installed.

Next Steps: Complete Your Update (Takes 5 Seconds)

Your files are updated! Complete these 3 simple steps so your browser loads the new version:

⚡ Action Required
1
Go to your browser's Extensions page:

Click below to copy your browser's Extensions URL, paste into the address bar, and press Enter:

💡 Quick shortcut: You can also click the Extensions puzzle icon (🧩) at the top-right of your browser and click "Manage extensions".

2
Make sure "Developer mode" is switched ON:

Look at the top-right (Chrome) or top-left (Edge) corner of the Extensions page. Make sure the toggle switch for Developer mode is switched ON.

3
Click the circular Reload (↻) icon on the WiCanFi card:

Find WiCanFi in your installed extensions list, and click its circular Reload (↻) icon. That's it! WiCanFi will immediately reload with version v1.0.8.

⚠️ Important distinction: Make sure you click the Reload (↻) button on the browser's Extensions tab (chrome://extensions / edge://extensions) — not the update check icon inside the extension popup!

Is WiCanFi Safe? (Windows "Unknown Publisher" Notice)

Why Windows SmartScreen flags open-source update scripts and how your security is guaranteed

🛡️ 100% Open-Source

When you download and run Update-Windows.bat, Windows Defender SmartScreen may display a blue dialog stating: "Windows protected your PC — Publisher: Unknown publisher".

❓ Why does Windows show this?

Windows batch files (.bat) are plain text scripts and cannot technically hold digital certificates. Microsoft also requires commercial corporations to purchase $500/year "Extended Validation" certificates. Free student projects do not have corporate certificate contracts, so Windows labels all downloaded batch files as "Unknown".

✓ Complete Transparency & Safety

WiCanFi is open-source under the MIT license. Every single line of Update-Windows.bat is open and inspectable in Notepad. It contains zero binary exes, zero telemetry tracking of passwords, and zero third-party adware.

⚡ Two ways to run without seeing warnings:
  • Quick run: On the blue Windows SmartScreen prompt, click More info ➔ Run anyway. The updater will automatically unblock future updates!
  • Permanent unblock: Right-click WiCanFi-Extension.zip before extracting ➔ Click Properties ➔ Check the "Unblock" box at the bottom ➔ Click OK. All files will open with zero warnings!

What Was Fixed & Improved in v1.0.8

Official Captive Portal Auto-Close Loop Fixed

★ Brand New in v1.0.8

Fixed the glitch where opening the official Wi-Fi portal page closed repeatedly every 700ms. Isolated tab auto-closing strictly to background bootstrap instances. Any portal tabs you open manually or via the popup will remain open so you can view your quota, session, or account status uninterrupted.

Complete Content Security Policy (CSP) Compliance

✓ Fixed in v1.0.8

Eliminated all browser CSP inline script errors and JavaScript URL violations. Replaced inline script injection with standard capturing DOM listeners, safe element interactions, and direct XML API POSTs. Added strict URL gating so automation never executes on internal browser pages like chrome://newtab.

Dedicated "Check for Updates" Icon in Popup

✓ Enhanced in v1.0.8

Replaced the circular reload icon in the extension popup header with a dedicated download/update icon. This completely eliminates confusion between checking for new updates and reloading the extension on the browser's Extensions page.

Reliable Wi-Fi Auto-Login & Portal Stability

★ Brand New in v1.0.7

Fixed continuous 12-second captive portal reload loops by implementing transition-based Wi-Fi session gating in the Windows agent. Keeps the official Cyberoam portal page open after sign-in so that firewall keepalive heartbeats are never killed by tab closure. Injects form submissions directly into the page's main-world context to eliminate script blocking, and prevents persistent logout lockouts across Wi-Fi reconnects.

Gateway Sign Out & Session Termination Fix

✓ Fixed in v1.0.3

Eliminated the bug where clicking "Sign Out & Disconnect" got stuck in "Signing out..." or falsely reported "Internet Connected". Resolved the Cyberoam/Sophos HTTP 202 unauthenticated XML template bug, enforced mode 193 session termination, and established persistent signed-out storage so auto-login does not inappropriately re-arm.

Original Portal Buttons Restored

✓ Fixed & Verified

Resolved the glitch where portal buttons (Username, Password, Sign-In, and Sign-Out) were hidden by intrusive DOM modifications. The native portal UI now renders cleanly with all official buttons accessible.

Accurate "Real Internet" 204 Probe Detection

✓ Fixed & Verified

Eliminated false "Internet Connected" status when the portal blocks traffic. WiCanFi now strictly tests genuine non-redirected 204 internet probes and live firewall gateway status.

Instant Login & Re-authentication

✓ Fixed & Verified

Clicking "Login" or "Re-authenticate" now directly transmits credentials to the gateway without being blocked by premature connection bypasses, immediately activating internet access.

Smart Multi-Browser Updater Launcher

✓ Enhanced in v1.0.3

Resolved Windows batch syntax parentheses expansion crash. Auto-detects whether you are using Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Brave, or your system default browser, immediately launching this release changelog tab upon completion.
